It’s official, former Destiny’s Child member LeToya Luckett will have the number one album on Billboard’s Top 200 chart? this week. The singer’s self-titled solo debut sold close to 200,000 copies, the highest any album has sold this summer.
Rumors are flying that Beyonce’s label/management has tried to sabotage LeToya Luckett’s solo success. Beyonce’s sophomore album “B-Day” was mysteriously added for pre-orders on iTunes on July 25, the same day Luckett’s debut “LeToya” was released. “B-Day” is slated for a September 4 release. Now remember this is just a rumor, nothing is confirmed. The following appeared in New York Daily News’ Daily Dish & Gossip today:
Undercutting a new album?
Six years after being fired from Destiny’s Child, R&B singer LeToya Luckett is apparently still paying.
On Tuesday, her debut solo album, “LeToya,” showed up in record stores, featuring the single “Torn,” which reached No. 2 on the Billboard charts. But industry insiders are buzzing that her former bandmate Beyonc� Knowles is rushing out her next album, “B-Day,” to sabotage Luckett’s success.
Beyonc� and her father-manager, Matthew Knowles, who also managed Destiny’s Child, have made “B-Day” available for preorders before the Sept. 4 release. Insiders claim it’s an attempt to distract fans from LeToya and undercut her sales.
In 2001, LeToya and ex-Destiny’s Child member LaTavia Roberson settled breach-of-contract and fraud suits against Beyonc�’s dad and the girl group. “There was supposed to be this whole peace treaty between the girls,” an insider told Lowdown. “Lady Elle carries Beyonc�’s clothing line and is very successful. The fact is, this is supposed to be over and in the past.”
A call to Beyonc�’s rep was not returned. LeToya’s record label, Capitol, declined to comment.

If the sabotage rumors are true, the plan failed, as LeToya’s solo debut is expected to top the Billboard album charts next week, with numbers expected to be between 180K - 200k units.

Charles Barkley recently announced that he is considering running for governor of Alabama, as early as 2010. When interviewed by the AP, here’s what Barkley had to say: “Alabama, that’s my home. I’m thinking about running for governor; they need the help.” He also went on to say, “If it wasn’t for Arkansas and Mississippi, we’d be dead last in everything. Just below this post I told yall about a petition made by a fan calling for the re-shooting of Beyonce’s “Deja Vu” clip. Well now a new petition has hit the block in support of Beyonce and the “Deja Vu” movement. Well in a bulliten from Beyonce’s official Myspace page, Beyonce or Beyonce’s camp thanked two fans who have been promoting? the positive petition:

A petition calling for a re-shoot of the video for Beyonce’s latest single, “Deja Vu”, has garnered plenty of unneccesary media coverage the past few days. The petition, created by a dissatisfied fan, has been listed as one of the top 25 most active petitions on PetitionOnline.com. Its reasons for the re-shoot include, “There is no clear story or theme to the video,” “The editing, while professionally done, causes one to get dizzy and disoriented,” and “The sexual themes and shots between Ms. Knowles and Mr. Sean Carter PKA Jay-Z, are alarming and show unacceptable interactions between the two.” So far, the petition has only managed to get around 2,500 signatures.

The former member of the best selling female group of all time has announced that she is pregnant. She was interviewed with AMG, and confirmed that she was indeed 2 months pregnant. Rumors have been circulating through the media about her being pregnant but was never confirmed until today. She says ” It was definately a suprise! Its kind of a bitter-sweet feeling because I was planning to release an album next year”. According to the Associated Press, Richard Hatch, the winner of the original season of CBS’s ‘Survivor’, was sent to a? federal prison in Oklahoma? for failing to pay taxes on the $1 million prize he received for winning the show. Hatch is currently being held? at the Federal Transfer Center in Oklahoma City, but is not known whether or not he will serve his full 51 month sentence there.
