Ellen to join American Idol as 4th judge; Housewives of Atlanta go at it

Ellen DeGeneres

In what I think is a show-saving move, the folks behind FOX’s American Idol announced yesterday that talk show host/comedian Ellen DeGeneres will be replacing Paula Abdul as the show’s fourth judge. She signed a five-year contract with the show, and will begin judging with the premiere of the show’s ninth season in January.

In case you didn’t know, Paula announced via Twitter about a month ago that she would not be returning to the show, where she has been a judge since the show’s debut in 2002.

Celebrity guest judges like Katy Perry, Victoria Beckham, and Mary J. Blige have been filling the empty fourth judge’s chair during the audition rounds.

This is an incredible move! Everybody loves Ellen, unless you’re evil and you eat babies. It seemed like removing Paula would’ve solidified the show’s demise, but with Ellen I’m sure the show will see a huge boost in ratings this season.

Speaking of Ellen, the cast of the Real Housewives of Atlanta made a stop by her show yesterday and of course plenty of ratchet-ness ensued. Watch the drama below:

The Real Housewives of Atlanta talk wig pullin’, check bouncin’, and musical chairs?

OK, so much to say, so little space. First of all, please end the use of the word “cordial” right now! Why is it still called ‘Housewives of Atlanta’ when only Lisa and NeNe are married? Why are Sheree and Kim still going at it? She must’ve really bounced that check? Why is Kandi so freaking cool!? She’s my new favorite. Sorry NeNe.
