Kandi Burruss’s former fiancé murdered, suspect charged

I’m sure you’ve heard by now, but in case you haven’t: Ashley “A.J.” Jewell, the former fiancé of singer and star of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” Kandi Burruss, was killed last night after an altercation outside of an Atlanta strip club.
A.J. was pronounced dead Friday at Piedmont Hospital after receiving fatal head injuries during an altercation outside the Body Tap strip club in Atlanta, of which he was part owner.
Police have charged Fredrick Richardson, an employee at the club, with voluntary manslaughter in the death. Richardson is currently being treated at Grady Memorial Hospital, as he was also injured in the fight, but will be taken into custody at the Fulton County Jail immediately after he is discharged.
Kandi spoke out about her tragic loss via Twitter earlier today:
im bout 2 giv my swollen eyes sum rest now. i just wanted to say thanks 2 every1 for their prayers. i gotta get up & go 2 my uncle’s funeral
I could never n a million years imagine this happening. please pray for AJ’s children. that’s who im the most concerned 4.
im just in one of those moods where i dont wanna talk, i dont wanna b held & told its gonna b ok. i just wanna cry myself 2 sleep, alone.
If you have watched this season of Real Housewives of Atlanta, then you know that Kandi’s engagement to A.J. caused a few problems and disagreements with her mom, who did not like the idea of her daughter dating someone with six children by different women. Several websites are reporting that Kandi actually gained legally custody of A.J.’s twin daughters earlier in the year.
Fellow ‘Housewives’ cast member Kim Zolciak said in an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that her “heart and prayers are with Kandi, AJ’s children and family. I can’t imagine the loss they’re feeling. I’ll be there for my dear friend Kandi. I adored A.J. He will definitely be missed.”
Definitely a tough, tragic situation. I feel so bad for Kandi. As I’ve said before, she’s my favorite on the show because of how honest and real she is. I was watching the latest episode a few days ago and I told someone that I thought Kandi is such a great person. I send out my condolences to her, his friends and family, and of course his kids.
And I have a message, especially for black men: stop the violence; stop killing each other and step up and be real men.
