Shyne’s mugshot following his 2001 arrest

Contrary to all the rumors that spread earlier today via Twitter and other social networking sites, rapper Shyne still remains in prison. He was scheduled to be released today after serving 9 years in prison after that infamous shooting in a New York City club, at which Diddy and Jennifer Lopez were in attendance.

MTV News reports that officials from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement are keeping Shyne, who is originally from Belize, in custody because questions have been raised about his immigration status. He has been detained in a western New York state facility with the possibility that he may be deported to Belize.

There has been a big deal of speculation about Shyne’s situation. Many people believe that Diddy was more involved with the shooting than Shyne was and that Diddy basically threw him under the bus. If that’s true, I wonder if upon release Shyne might take out all that animosity on Diddy? Who knows…
