Criminal charges will more than likely be filed in the case of the “Balloon Boy,” according to Larimer County, Colorado, Sheriff Jim Alderden. He tells CNN: “We anticipate criminal charges will be filed sometime in the near future.”

I wonder what exactly the charges will be? There are so many things that Richard Heene, the father of the Balloon Boy Falcon Heene, could be charged with. His homemade aircraft violated airspace, the Denver airport was shutdown at one point, taxpayer money was spent on all the emergency personnel — the list goes on and on.

I think it was pretty clear that the whole thing was a hoax once we found out that Falcon was hiding in the attic the whole time. If not then, it certainly became clear when Falcon admitted it live on CNN.

Even if it had turned out to be real, the parents should have been charged with child endangerment. The whole story is a mess and so is this family.
