Video: Alicia Keys – ‘Sleeping With a Broken Heart’

November 20, 2009 | Category:MUSIC | Author: Josh Cox

Earlier this week Alicia Keys debuted her video for “Sleeping With A Broken Heart,” the second single from her upcoming album The Element of Freedom, which comes out on December 15th.

I told you how much I loved the single when I posted the it here on the blog last month, but this video makes me love it even more. The song is classic Alicia Keys; it’s simple, yet epic, and it’s so classy — all of these attributes are well-reflected in the music video, directed by Syndrome.

Catch the video above if you haven’t seen it yet, and you can watch a video of Alicia performing this single on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” after the jump.

Video Premiere: Beyonce feat. Lady Gaga – ‘Video Phone’

November 17, 2009 | Category:MUSIC | Author: Josh Cox

Here is the highly anticipated video for the “Video Phone” extended remix by Beyonce featuring Lady Gaga.

It’s amazing how this out-of-nowhere collaboration was able to build up so much anticipation that you almost forget how lackluster the song is compared to other Beyonce hits.

The video is very visually excellent; Beyonce is hot in all the different styles, and she’s a lot more sexual than she usually is in her videos. No complaints from me about that.

Lady Gaga said in an earlier interview that she was paying tribute to Beyonce in this video, but I didn’t realize that meant that she would leave her personality at home. Although she killed the choreography scene with Bee, without the costumes, the out-there personality and great performance art, I don’t know who she is.

Lady Gaga’s ‘Bad Romance’ video; She’s officially an icon

November 10, 2009 | Category:MUSIC | Author: Josh Cox

Lady Gaga premiered the video for her single “Bad Romance” earlier today, and it is…. INCREDIBLE!!!

I mean, it is Lady Gaga of course, so I was expecting a great video for this song, but I had no idea it would be that great! I don’t even know where to begin with this, but I will say that I officially consider her an icon.

Video: Rihanna’s ’20/20′ interview

November 7, 2009 | Category:IN THE NEWS,TV | Author: Josh Cox

Here’s Diane Sawyer’s full, exclusive interview with Rihanna from last night’s episode of 20/20 on ABC.

I personally thought that Rihanna came across as extremely honest. I was really surprised at how candid she was, considering that Chris Brown has released numerous statements and done several interviews without really addressing anything, and she comes in and answers everything in one interview, sans mother, sans lawyer.

During and after the interview, I was checking some of the reactions on Twitter and I was really disappointed and disturbed at how so many WOMEN were going in on Rihanna, still accusing her of ‘provoking it’ and many said that she ‘probably deserved it.’ Rihanna clearly said that she did not hit him. I’m sure some don’t but I do believe her statement, and even if she was lying and did hit Chris, it in no way should have resulted in the severe beating she received.

Guys can be provoked, but that doesn’t matter. As a man, you are supposed to control your rage and your anger. We are bigger than females, and if they do hit us or whatever, you should be able to restrain them or just walk away from the relationship. But never is it cool to beat the hell out of a woman.

I believe what she said about Chris blacking out during the beating. She said there was ‘no soul in his eyes’ and that it was not the person she fell in love with. Chris obviously snapped and made a huge mistake, but he will have to suffer the consequences.

I truly think Chris Brown is sorry and regrets what happens, that’s why I’m not the person who will try to put down his career and wish him failure. He messed up big time, he’s suffering some backlash, but that’s OK. He’ll learn a lot from this experience, and I’m sure going through this has made both Chris and Rihanna grow up a lot in these past nine months.

I wish them both the best.

Parts 2 through 5 of Rihanna’s exclusive interview are after the jump.

Rihanna breaks her silence, says ‘f@*k love!!’

November 5, 2009 | Category:IN THE NEWS | Author: Josh Cox

A five minute clip of Diane Sawyer’s exclusive interview with Rihanna aired this morning on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” It’s Rihanna’s first ever interview or statement since Chris Brown beat her down back in February, and she is not holding back at all.

On not speaking for so long, Rihanna says that she felt ‘embarrassed’ not only about the incident, but also about falling in love with a person like Chris. She says seeing the effects her decisions had on other young women really helped her not to go back to Chris. Also, she says that when women in domestic violence situations make decisions, they should not make a decision based on love. “Eff love!” she said.

I cannot wait to see this interview!! I’m glad to see that she’s being very honest, and it appears that she will be speaking on all the things that we have not heard about the incident. And I love that she is accepting the fact that she is a role model to many and how important her actions are — that’s not something we see much of anymore with celebrities these days.

The full interview airs tomorrow night (Friday, November 6) on ABC’s 20/20 at 9 p.m. central.

Tyler Perry talks ‘Precious’

November 5, 2009 | Category:MOVIES & FILMS,QUOTED | Author: Josh Cox

tylerperry

The highly-anticipated film “Precious” hits select theaters THIS FRIDAY, and I couldn’t be more excited!! In a recent interview, Tyler Perry opened up about his and Oprah’s involvement with the film, the buzz around it, and how it’s not just a film for black people. Check it out:

This is one of the first projects you decided to campaign for that isn’t one of your own. You’ve also teamed up with Oprah. How did that all come about? Did you know Lee Daniels before this movie?

Never met Lee. I sent my team up to Sundance, and they found the film. I started a new film company, and I wanted to find some new filmmakers and really push them. They found a great film and brought it to me, and I was blown away by it because it was so close to my childhood and how I grew up. Mo’Nique’s character was so close to my father. I watched it and called Oprah and asked her if she’d seen it. She said, “I have it in my purse, I haven’t watched it.” She watched it, and she’s like, “Tyler, this is so great. I’m so glad you’re doing this because people will get a chance to see it.” I said, “More people will get a chance to see it if we did it together,” and she said, “Let’s do it.” That’s when it became Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry presents.

In addition to promoting the film, what’s Oprah’s involvement? Promoting it in her magazines?

All of that, as well as pushing it through the Website and asking people to see it. It’s what we bring, and I think what Oprah brings more than anything is she makes it not just a movie for black people. She makes it a movie that everybody will be invited to and feel comfortable going to. I can cover the black folks. I can cover us! It is amazing to see what she will be able to do with that, because the film is universal. There are little girls who grew up in trailer parks who went through the exact same thing who are not black. It’ll all work out.

When you’re introducing this film to your audience, how are you going to present it so they don’t think it’s your production?

It’s starting with a huge warning, saying, first of all, I did not write or direct the film. It is not a Tyler Perry film. It’s gonna start with that warning. I know I got the grandmothers and the seniors who will go and see it right away and think it is something I’ve written and they’ll bring all the kids to see it, but I need all of them to understand, and you can help me with this, that this is not a Tyler Perry film, and I would not suggest that they bring their children to see it. Once that is said, my next move is letting them know why I felt the need to get involved, and that is because of my own life story.

You said this movie had a profound effect on you because you saw parts of your life in it. Now that you and Oprah are behind it, is there anything you plan to change or to enhance?

Nothing, not a thing. I think it’s all Lee’s vision and what he wanted it to be from the very beginning. The only thing I suggested and was a little adamant about was Mary J.’s song being involved, called ‘I See Color.’ That was still Lee’s decision, so that was all Lee.

Tyler also talks about his upcoming projects “For Colored Girls…” and “Why Did I Get Married Too?” in this interview, which you can finish reading here.

New Music: Mariah Carey f/ Trey Songz – ‘Inseperable’

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Here’s a new track from Mariah Carey. It’s the remix of her single “Inseperable” and features Trey Songz. I LOVE the idea of these two collaborating (two of the best voices in the game!), but this one is not the business. It’s not that it’s bad — it’s just that it’s so… average.

Sorry Mariah and Trey, yall have great voices, but this song almost put me to sleep.

In other Mariah news, she stopped by the Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday to not promote her struggling album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. But she did talk about her role in the upcoming flick “Precious”, which everyone says is incredible!! Watch her Ellen interview after the jump.

Did a sex tape cause the Carrie Prejean settlement?

November 5, 2009 | Category:IN THE NEWS | Author: Josh Cox

carrieprejean

Looks like an out-of-nowhere settlement between homophobic, ousted pageant contestant Carrie Prejean and the Miss California USA organization may have been reached so quickly due to a very racy video of Prejean being brought to the table by lawyers for the pageant.

CNN has the drama:

The sudden end to a legal battle between dethroned Miss California USA Carrie Prejean and pageant officials was prompted by the revelation of a “sex tape,” according to a source familiar with the lawsuits’ settlement.

Prejean was fired in June after lingerie-modeling photos of her emerged that pageant officials said were a breach of her contract. Prejean sued the pageant in August, arguing her firing was religious discrimination because of her opposition to same-sex marriage.

Pageant officials countersued last month, demanding their former beauty queen repay $5,200 in pageant money spent for her breast implants and give them all proceeds from a book she’s written.

A settlement of both lawsuits was signed in New York Tuesday, but no details were made public. Lawyers and parties for each side were bound by a confidentiality pledge, according to the source.

The veil of secrecy was partially lifted Wednesday after celebrity gossip Web site TMZ reported the deal was sealed after pageant lawyers presented an “extremely graphic” home video involving Prejean.

TMZ Managing Editor Harvey Levin said during a webcast Wednesday that he obtained the Prejean video during the summer, but found it “too racy” to post on his site. He indicated Prejean was alone in the video.

The source with knowledge of the settlement talks told CNN those details were accurate.

Sneek-Peak: Khloe Kardshian/Lamar Odom’s E! wedding special

November 5, 2009 | Category:TV | Author: Josh Cox

I just know you’ve been dying to see Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom’s highly-publicized wedding (please note extreme sarcasm). Their wedding special is set to air on E! this Sunday, November 8, at 7 p.m. central. Here’s a little clip from the wedding — I’m sooo excited!! (again, sarcasm)

By the way, the new season of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” premieres December 13 on E! — now I’m actually a little excited about that. Yes, I like that show. Don’t judge me. =)

‘Real’ Drama! Sheree vs. ex-husband Bob Whitfield

November 5, 2009 | Category:RUMORS & SCANDAL | Author: Josh Cox

sheree

Oh boy, this one is almost too messy for me…

Bob Whitfield, ex-husband of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Sheree, went in on her during a recent radio show interview. You’ve probably read some of his thoughts of her via his Twitter page, but he took it to a new level this time.

I don’t know the best way to set this up, but basically he calls her his Frankenstein, says that he put her breasts and her nose there, and says that he has “tapes and pics” he could release.

Take a listen here.

I hate to get in their business, but how damn bad must their relationship have been for him to be going at her like this, and at this point in the game!?
