Final thoughts on 2009 & New Year wishes

December 31, 2009 | Category:RANDOM ISH | Author: Josh Cox

We are just a few hours shy of 2010 here in the United States.

Even though there were quite a few major, sad moments this year, there was a lot of good. Republican or Democrat, you have to admit that it was incredible to see an African American man be sworn in as the President. And while we lost the King of Pop, we were given so much great pop music and new iconic artists.

On a personal note, 2009 has been an amazing year for me. I graduated college, got a great job, met new people, moved to a new city, and now here at the heels of a new year I’m headed off to another new city, Los Angeles, and starting a new exciting chapter.

I wish you all the best for 2010, and I want to give this little bit of advice. Something I’ve learned over the past couple of years is that instead of setting big, nearly-unrealistic goals, you can gain a lot of confidence and self-esteem by setting smaller, more attainable goals. Example: Instead of making a goal to work out everyday for the year, make a goal to work out two or three times this week. When you accomplish that, you will be so proud of yourself and that will help you in the long-run in accomplishing your bigger dreams and goals.

Okay, enough of me. Check out the video mash-up above of 2009’s Top 25 Billboard pop hits — it’s incredible! Have fun tonight, be safe, and Happy New Year!

When Twitter goes a little too far…

Slim Thug
Slim Thug

If you are an avid Twitter user like me, you know that there’s some stuff that makes you say “WTF?” in the trending topics pretty much everyday.

This was the case yesterday, as #thoughtsduringsex stayed in the double-Ts for a while, proving that some people have absolutely no type of friends or contacts — or life — outside of social networking sites.

Meanwhile, instead of posting his “thoughts during sex” like the topic suggested, Houston rapper Slim Thug decided it would be much easier to just post a Twitpic of him having sex with some chick, because his thought during sex was to take a picture and post so everybody can see.

Here are my questions: does she know she’s being photographed? Is she his girlfriend, groupie, or mistress-whore? Why does he have all that damn cologne? Was he that bored with this trollop that he took a pic, uploaded it, captioned it, and posted it? What does LeToya think? Does he still rap?

So many questions, so few answers. I think some people need to check themselves on their Twitter. If you realize you can’t play with your Twitter in a reasonable manner, pull a Chris Brown and delete it. That will be all.

See Slim Thug’s Twitpic sex-pic after the jump. It’s only slightly NSFW-ish. BTW, click here to follow me on Twitter!

Washington, D.C. council approves gay marriage

December 15, 2009 | Category:IN THE NEWS | Author: Josh Cox

Gay marriage gets the OK in DC

The city council of Washington, D.C., has voted to legalize same-sex marriage in our nation’s capital.

According to the New York Times, the city’s mayor now has to sign the bill, then Congress will vote on it. In case you didn’t know, Congress has the last word on laws in D.C. Same-sex couples could walking down the aisle in D.C. by March, if the mayor and Congress also approve.

I’m sure the gays are somewhere rejoicing. Congrats to yall! I most definitely support equality! :-)

Video: Alexandra Burke’s ‘Broken Heels’

December 15, 2009 | Category:MUSIC | Author: Josh Cox

British singer Alexandra Burke, winner of the super popular UK show “X-Factor”, has a new video. “Broken Heels” is the new single from her latest album. The video is complete with hot girls doing impossible leg stretches in sexified football uniforms.

Alexandra is all the rage in the UK — if I’m not mistaken, her single “Hallelujah”, released following her X-Factor win, is one of the best-selling songs in European history. Also, her previous single “Bad Boys” went straight to the top of the UK iTunes charts upon its release. But for some reason, that same interest is not here in America. Interesting.

I guess British pop stars are just like soccer. The rest of the world loves it, but America is clearly not diggin’ it.

Tigergate 2009: Tiger gets dropped

December 14, 2009 | Category:RUMORS & SCANDAL | Author: Josh Cox

Tiger Woods

The Tiger Woods scandal is continues to do a good job providing us with our end-of-the-year celebrity drama, and as his mistress-count gets closer to the 20s, one of his sponsors has decided that it’s time to drop his ass.

International consulting firm Accenture has decided to remove Tiger from any future advertising. They say that he “no longer the right representative for its advertising.” Womp womp.

Another of Tigers big sponsors, Gillette, announced over the weekend that while it won’t be firing him, they will limit his appearances in their advertisements in order to “honor his requests for privacy.” What a clever way to put it.

Am I the only one who is amazed at how this went from a series of tweets about Tiger being in a serious accident to Tiger being a huge man-whore? In my opinion, it’s not news nor is it surprising to hear about an athlete having extramarital affairs, but everyone else seems to think otherwise.

Clearly this scandal is like Herpes… it just won’t go away. Speaking of Herpes, they say Tiger never used protection with any of these trollops… now that gets a super womp womp.

‘Princess & The Frog’ hops to the top

Disney's 'The Princess and the Frog'

Disney’s new flick The Princess and the Frog debuted atop this weekend’s box office chart, pulling in $25 million. The film, starring Anika Noni Rose, features Disney’s first-ever black princess and is also the first time in years that Disney has used hand-drawn animation.

As a 21-year-old dude, I am not ashamed to admit that I love animated Disney movies. Yeah, I said it. Don’t judge me; you know you still cry when Mufasa dies in The Lion King. Meanwhile, I couldn’t be happier for the cast & crew of Princess and the Frog, and when it comes out on DVD, I might have to Redbox it… I’m just sayin’.

Also in this weekend’s box office chart: The Blind Side (Sandra Bullock) slid down a spot to number 2, bringing in a cool $15 million, while the new Nelson Mandela-flick Invictus came in at number 3 with $9 million.

And speaking of movies, Hangover finally comes out on DVD tomorrow, December 15. It is definitely the funniest movie I saw this year. I don’t usually buy DVDs, but I’m definitely rushing to get that one!

Video Premiere: Timbaland feat. Drake – ‘Say Something’

December 9, 2009 | Category:MUSIC | Author: Josh Cox

Here is the video for Timbaland’s new single “Say Something” featuring Drake off the new Shock Value II album — which is now in stores and online (am I the only one who didn’t know this was already out?)

I’ve definitely been listening to the song all the time since it leaked a couple of months ago. The first leaked version featured Drake only, and a lot of people jumped off the bandwagon for this track with a quickness when the final, mastered leaked featuring Timbaland’s verse. But I don’t think his verse is bad at all, and this is one of my favorite singles for this half of the year.

By the way, is it me or did Timbaland put a lot of that weight back on? And does Drake’s dancing make him look more Canadian? LOL.

It’s amazing how Drake has yet to put out something that I didn’t like. I’m so proud of that dude!

Take a look, and have a laugh. And you have to admit, even Beyonce and her stans would find this funny.

Chris Brown, Drake help relaunch VIBE Magazine

December 5, 2009 | Category:MAGAZINES | Author: Josh Cox

Drake & Chris cover VIBE

Many people were shocked several months ago after it was announced that VIBE Magazine would end production. Now the magazine has been purchased and relaunched, and helping the struggling magazine with their first issue is Chris Brown and Drake.

The two are featured on a double cover, with an “Everybody Hates Chris/Everybody Loves Drake” concept.

Chris brings up what I think is a pretty valid point in his interview. He says that “it’s never okay to hit a woman” but he also states that it’s never okay for woman to hit a man. For once, I agree with Chris. There’s definitely a double standard when it comes to domestic violence.

To see more about this double issue, head over to VIBE.com.

Pleasure P Scandal! Is the ‘p’ for pedophile?

December 3, 2009 | Category:RUMORS & SCANDAL | Author: Josh Cox

Marcus Pleasure P Cooper formerly of Pretty Ricky
Marcus “Pleasure P” Cooper’s past is coming back to haunt him

You would think that after receiving three Grammy nominations, yesterday would have been the best day in Pleasure P’s, formerly of the group Pretty Ricky, day. But that’s not the case.

A woman by the name of Laura Goldstein, the daughter of a Florida attorney apparently involved in several child molestation cases against Pleasure P (real name Marcus Cooper) when he was a teenager, put him on blast by contacting a blog with specific details and documents regarding child molestation charges against Cooper.

While Goldstein leaked apparent court documents against Cooper, an anonymous source has come forward and claimed that he inappropriately touched and penetrated his young niece and nephew. Goldstein further claims inappropriate behavior with other children.

Somehow, Cooper was able to have these cases “sealed,” which explains former bandmate Spectacular’s reaction to the document leak on Twitter, after a fan inquired whether he knew about the charges:

“WOW! Who told u that!?? That was sealed!”

Following the leak of the documents, Pretty Ricky along with their manager released the following statement, which basically gives it all away without giving it all away… if that makes any sense to you.

Unfortunately due to Pleasure P’s lawyer filing an injunction against us from speaking, we are not at liberty to speak about the case. How ever we will let it be known that we did kick him out of the group, he did not leave on is own free will. We did a deal with Atlantic via Craig Calman that we would let him out of the group if they bought out his contract with us and Blue Star which is the official label of Pretty Ricki. We are not at liberty to discuss why we kicked him out of the group.

The rumor is that Pleasure P was forced out of the group due to rising tensions among group members about these specific charges, and they’re basically confirming this rumor with that poorly written statement.

I hate gossip and rumors, but this really makes you go hmmm. The pieces to this puzzle seem to fit together perfectly, and the proof is really in the documents.

Whether this is 100% true or not, I seriously doubt people will be able to look at him the same. I know I won’t be able to.

There are so many unanswered questions with this case. How were the documents sealed? Why was there only little punishment? Does the document leak violate attorney-client privilege? I think that were only seeing the beginning of what will turn into a greater scandal.

To see the leaked court documents, as well as that anonymous source’s scandalous open letter, head over to NecoleBitchie.com.
