Nicole Scherzinger, the only one allowed to sing lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls, is back in the studio recording singles for her second attempt at a solo career.

Ne-Yo, who has been working with Nicole, says that she’s in a “state of liberation” right now (after splitting with her boyfriend Lewis Hamilton) and that her music will reflect that…

The whole album is going to be a pressure release – a great big exhale – and I’m happy about that. She has a lot of emotions after splitting up with Lewis. But it’s like taking an eagle and giving it back its wings.

Anyone remember her last solo effort, titled Her Name is Nicole? That’s right, you don’t, because it was never released. That album’s first two singles were huge, no, massive flops, despite help from T.I. and Will.I.Am.

Hopefully this second effort will work for her, if not, why not stick with the Pussycat Dolls — with them she’s virtually a solo artist with a few background dancers anyway.
