Earlier this week Soulja Boy announced via Twitter that he will be filming a video for the remix of his single “Pretty Boy Swag” this weekend in Atlanta. The remix features Ciara and Gucci Mane, and if you haven’t heard it yet you can listen to it below.

Ciara has debuted the cover artwork for her latest album, Basic Instinct, which is currently set to drop in August. Despite the video for the album’s debut single “Ride” being banned by BET, the single is climbing the charts, reaching number 5 on Billboard’s Hip Hop/R&B chart and Top 50 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In other Ciara news, she recently admitted to spending over $11,000 a month on shoes. She told Pride magazine:
When I go shopping, my most extravagant purchases are normally going to be shoes. I just love shoes and go for what’s hot. I like everything from Louboutin and Dr Martens to Versace and Fendi.A person should always be able to afford to extravagant shoes. I think I probably own maybe a thousand pairs… It depends on the items, but, on an average shopping trip I probably spend a minimum of $1,200. It’s not that bad! On average, I will spend about $11,000 a month (on shoes).
Shit, I’m trying to figure out if I’ll make $11,000 this year!

Drake just dropped 25 Gs to help build a library and learning center in the city in Jamaica where he filmed his “Find Your Love” video.
From the Jamaica Star:
Jones-Griffith [Singjay Mavado's manager] explained: “Basically Mavado and Drake shot some scenes in Cassava Piece and struck up an immediate rapport with the people there. He thought they showed him a lot of love and he was very down to earth with them and wanted to do something positive.”The idea for the learning center which includes a computer lab and a library, according to Jones-Griffith, was one Mavado had plans for so Drake decided to assist the project.
When THE WEEKEND STAR spoke to Drake he commented: “I had a great time when I was in Jamaica and the people of Cassava Piece showed me a lot of love. I just wanted to show back some love by helping out with Mavado’s project on the Gullyside. It’s a very positive move and something I am very happy to be a part of. Education is the key to life so to be able to assist in that process is very fulfilling.”
Two weeks ago Drake gave Mavado his contribution and since then construction has started in Cassava Piece. Jones-Griffith added: “Obviously it’s going to take more than what Drake gave so Mavado has contributed to it and pledges to put more towards it.” Tentatively the name for the library is ‘Drake and Mavado Peace Center’.
That’s a good look.

Eminem’s latest album Recovery continues to make major moves.
The album is set to sell nearly 340,000 copies in its second week of release, sending total sales over 1 million in the United States. Recovery is also expected to remain atop the charts in the United Kingdom.
To pull numbers like that with the current state of the industry is huge. Congrats Em!

If you thought the 2009 Grammy performance of “Swagga Like Us” was the only M.I.A. and Jay-Z collaboration you would ever hear, you were wrong. She tells MTV News:
“I really want to produce for him. … I have got the perfect song for Jay-Z,” MIA told MTV News. “In fact, that’s the best one that I had for my album which never made it. [It was] the first song I was really into and the song that actually made my album go in the direction it did, [but it] never actually made the album. But I want to give it to [Jay-Z], because I think it suits him more. It’s insane. He’s never done anything like that.”The singer also said she was surprised that Jay-Z had opted to take on the lead off single.
“I was really surprised he liked ‘XXXO’ actually,” MIA admitted. “And I was really surprised he liked the version that’s on the album, and not Blaqstarr’s version, which is more … sort of urban sounding. It was interesting he liked the one with the crazy synths and stuff. It’s more sort of [an] electro vibe … and his verse is so great. It was good to hear him say the word “metrosexual”.

Prince wants us all to know that he thinks the Internet is over and that silly things like iTunes will never make it. Via his interview with the Daily Mirror:
The internet’s completely over. I don’t see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won’t pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can’t get it.The internet’s like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated. Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good. They just fill your head with numbers and that can’t be good for you.
This is coming from the same dude who said the party would be over in 2000, zero, zero. I partied the other night and it’s 2010.
B-T-dub, his THIRTY-THIRD album, called 20Ten, hits iTunes stores only later this year.
Big ups to Prince!

Singer/actress Solange recently gave a very candid interview to Vibe Magazine, in which she opens up about everything from STILL getting compared to her sister to breaking down during the recording process for her new album. Check out a couple of notable quotables below:
Are you ever tempted to put up a middle finger to those fans that said you were just being weird to separate yourself from your sister Beyonce?I could really care less what Suzie B. fan, who fits a certain profile and only shops at a certain place and only goes to the spots that blogs tell her to go to, thinks. Those people have never driven me. I wouldn’t take back any of the things I did because I gained the people who I needed to have on my side. The people who don’t understand that don’t have the integrity that I want anyway. I felt really good that my songs were at the Best Of The Year-End lists in places like Pitchfork and Spin. I get my love. It may not be what everyone else’s perception is, but I definitely get respect and I feel really good about that.
You surprised a lot of people when your 2008 album Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams was lauded as one of the years most critically acclaimed works. What was your reaction to all of the positive press?I felt really good about it. I felt like I established myself as an artist with the people that I needed to and I weeded out the people that I never intended to have as part of my fanbase. Being able to tour and actually see and touch the people who are trying to really hear and feel your music is how you actually see what your fanbase is made of. These folks were not just people who wanted a radio song or wanted a particular record just for the catchiness of it. I had the people who were true music lovers; those kinds of fans will grow with me. If I want to do something more adventurous they wont abandon me.
Was there one moment when you knew you were accepted beyond just being Beyonce’s little sister?
I think that moment was when I was five, really [Laughs]. I never had to have this moment of where I felt accepted. I’ve always felt accepted. There was no big church-bell-ringing moment for me. I’m always finding out more and more about myself and about the people who respect what I do. I can tell you what I really love. When I run into people on the street that tell me they have connected with my music.
