RON ARTEST CHARGED IN DOMESTIC DISPUTE, COULD FACE UP TO 4 YEARS IN PRISON

Probably best remembered for his involvement in the infamous 2004 Indiana Pacers brawl with Detroit Pistons fans, Ron Artest, who now plays for the Sacramento Kings, faces four misdemeanor charges as a result of a dispute with his wife. Here’s what went down:

Placer County Deputy District Attorney Dan Quick said Artest will be arraigned Thursday on charges of battery and corporal injury to a spouse, false imprisonment and dissuading a witness from reporting a crime. Each carries a maximum sentence of one year in prison.

Artest was arrested March 5 at his estate in Loomis, 25 miles northeast of Sacramento, and was released from custody after posting a $50,000 bond.

A Placer County sheriff’s report said Artest grabbed a woman and pushed her down, then slapped her face during an argument. The report, which did not identify the victim because it was a domestic violence incident, said Artest took a phone from the woman the first time she tried to call 911

Seems like this guy just can’t stay out of trouble. It was just in February that animal control officers seized his Great Dane because it wasn’t being fed and now the dog is in the custody of one of Ron’s lawyers. What’s really up with this dude?

No. 2 ranked University of Florida Gators straight destroyed No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes with a score of 41-14, Monday night at the BCS Bowl, which took place at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Many predicted that the OSU Buckeyes would wipeout the Gators in last night’s game, and it seemed as if those predicitons would come true as the Buckeyes scored a touchdown in the first 16 seconds of the game. However, Ohio State with it’s Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith could not hold up to the amazing performance of the Gators’ Chris Leak and Tim Tebow. This is the Gators’ second national title, with their first being over Florida State in 1996.
