The WTF Files: Gary Coleman goes off on ‘The Insider’

February 18, 2010 | Category:THE WTF FILES, TV | Author: Josh Cox

Gary Coleman was a guest on the trainwreck of a show known as “The Insider” Wednesday to answer questions about his recent domestic violence charges. Gary was calm at first, but all hell broke loose when guest panelist Lisa Bloom kept pressing him to flat out admit that he never abused his wife. He told her to go “f**k yourself” and that she can go “fall into the ocean!” Gary eventually got up and walked off the set before things got too out of control. Smart move. Watch the madness above!

This video leaves me with so many questions… What’s up with his hands? Why did she keep asking him the same question — he clearly answered it like 3 times? Who came up with this idea for a show? He’s right — she doesn’t know him, so why the hell is she all up in his grill? Did they really have a behavioral analyst readily available on set? So many questions yet so few answers.

Lisa Bloom was far too aggressive with the questioning. But Gary, those hands… those fingers… that ash! I can’t!!

The best (& worst) of tonight’s Super Bowl commercials

February 8, 2010 | Category:TV | Author: Josh Cox

The Super Bowl is all about the commercials, especially for people like me who aren’t big football fans. By far, tonight’s most epic commercial was for CBS’s Late Show with David Letterman. Somehow, Oprah got Jay Leno to not only sit on a couch with his huge rival David Letterman, but also in an advertisement for Dave’s show. This is the type of s**t that only Oprah can pull off. I’m telling you, she’s related to Jesus.

Doritos definitely brought the LOLs tonight. This commercial featuring a walking dog and an electric collar had me ROTFLMAO! No one likes a guy with douchey tendencies, and clearly dogs don’t either. Electrocute that douchebag, bitch!

More Super Bowl commercials are after the jump, including my pick for one of tonight’s absolute worst commercials.

Conan’s last night on ‘Tonight Show’

January 23, 2010 | Category:TV | Author: Josh Cox

Conan’s final thoughts on NBC’s Tonight Show

NBC’s The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien is no more.

Last night was CoCo’s final episode of “Tonight,” and despite what you may have thought about his relationship with NBC, Conan actually thanked them. After acknowledging their current differences, he expressed how proud he was of the work he did with them during his 20 years at the network — starting with “Saturday Night Live,” “Late Night,” and the short-lived “Tonight Show.”

I’ll have to admit, his speech got me. Yes, I am Team Leno, but I feel so bad for Conan. NBC put both of them in such awful, disastrous situations, and I really hate that Conan’s time at NBC had to end in such a messy way. Hopefully, he will be able to return to New York with his original ‘Late Night’ crew, and they will put together a great show on another network. I wish him the best.

Jay Leno will be returning to the Tonight Show on March 1st, and he is currently scheduled to have a tell-all interview with Oprah, which is scheduled to air Thursday. An offer was extended to Conan O’Brien to appear on Oprah, but he has not yet accepted.

Another VH1 reality show contestant commits murder

January 18, 2010 | Category:TV | Author: Josh Cox

Jamal “Miliown” Trulove

Man I tell you, VH1 sure knows how to cast winners for their reality shows. Yet another VH1 reality star has been charged with murder!

Jamal “Milliown” Trulove, who was featured on “I Love New York 2,” is currently on trial for the 2007 murder of 28-year-old Seu Kuka in a San Francisco-area housing project. San Francisco prosecutors say that his brief appearance on the reality show (Tiffany “New York” Pollard booted him on the first episode for fighting) helped them capture Trulove. From the San Francisco Chronicle:

Trulove, 29, went on trial this week for the July 23, 2007, slaying of Seu Kuka, 28. Prosecutors say Trulove shot Kuka at the Sunnydale public housing project in Visitacion Valley as Kuka was chasing Trulove’s brother during a fight.

The district attorney’s office has one eyewitness who will be called to testify after lawyers deliver their opening statements as soon as Tuesday – a woman who told San Francisco authorities in fall 2007 that Trulove, whom they had been hunting for three months, had shown up on the VH1 reality series “I Love New York 2.”

The series was taped in Los Angeles shortly before Kuka was slain. In it, Trulove – billing himself as a rap singer named Milliown – was one of 15 or so suitors vying for the affections of Tiffany “New York” Pollard, a reality TV veteran.

This is the second time a former VH1 reality show contestant has been involved in a murder scandal. Last summer, Ryan Jenkins from “Megan Wants a Millionaire” was suspected in the brutal murder of his girlfriend, model Jasmine Fiore. Jenkins escaped the country and was found dead in a hotel room in Canada after reportedly hanging himself.

Perhaps VH1 should invest in better background checks. But on the bright side, at least they found New York. She is hands down the QUEEN of reality television. Speaking of New York, she needs another show! VH1, are you listening?

In case you missed it: Mo’Nique takes home a Golden Globe

January 18, 2010 | Category:IN CASE YOU MISSED IT, TV | Author: Josh Cox

Mo'Nique

The 2010 awards show season officially kicked off last night with NBC’s telecast of the Golden Globes, live from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. Within the first few moments of the show, Mo’Nique took home the award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the critically-acclaimed Lee Daniels’ film Precious.

If you didn’t know, Mo’Nique created quite the controversy a few months ago with rumors floating around that she refused any promotional appearances for the film at various festivals, citing her BET talk show as a more important obligation.

Whether those rumors were true or not, she definitely deserved this award. Her performance in Precious is unbelievably amazing, and I definitely see an Oscar on her radar. I’ve been following her career ever since she brought out the LOLs on “The Parkers,” so I can’t help but be super proud of her Golden Globes win.

Meanwhile, the star of Precious, Gabourey Sidibe, lost in the Best Actress category to Sandra Bullock and her performance in The Blind Side. I love me some Sandra, and she did a great job in that movie that I hate but everyone else seems to love, but Gabourey’s performance in Precious was much better… so I’m definitely throwing a flag on that play. Who’s with me?

In case you missed Mo’Nique’s beautiful acceptance speech, check it out below.

Team Leno wins! TMZ reports Jay Leno to return to ‘Tonight Show’

January 14, 2010 | Category:TV | Author: Josh Cox

Jay Leno & Conan O'Brien

Looks like an official decision has finally been made regarding the hot mess that is NBC’s late night lineup.

TMZ just broke the news that NBC has reached a deal with Jay Leno that will bring him back as the host of “The Tonight Show” and it appears that Conan O’Brien is completely out. Womp womp.

It really seems like most people have been Team Conan, but um, not me. I’m a big fan of Conan, but he was so much better in his original time slot of 12:35 on “Late Night.” With him as host of ‘Tonight,’ it was like all the pressure got to him and he changed things around to appeal to a new audience — and according to the ratings, he failed.

I still say that NBC shouldn’t have changed anything from the beginning. Jay’s ratings were strong on ‘Tonight’, Conan was doing great on ‘Late Night’, and Carson Daly…. well, at least he never got canceled.

Perhaps NBC should get rid of Jimmy Fallon, put Conan back at 12:35, and pretend like none of this ever happened. Officer, I didn’t see anything.

Video: Rihanna’s ‘20/20′ interview

November 7, 2009 | Category:IN THE NEWS, TV | Author: Josh Cox

Here’s Diane Sawyer’s full, exclusive interview with Rihanna from last night’s episode of 20/20 on ABC.

I personally thought that Rihanna came across as extremely honest. I was really surprised at how candid she was, considering that Chris Brown has released numerous statements and done several interviews without really addressing anything, and she comes in and answers everything in one interview, sans mother, sans lawyer.

During and after the interview, I was checking some of the reactions on Twitter and I was really disappointed and disturbed at how so many WOMEN were going in on Rihanna, still accusing her of ‘provoking it’ and many said that she ‘probably deserved it.’ Rihanna clearly said that she did not hit him. I’m sure some don’t but I do believe her statement, and even if she was lying and did hit Chris, it in no way should have resulted in the severe beating she received.

Guys can be provoked, but that doesn’t matter. As a man, you are supposed to control your rage and your anger. We are bigger than females, and if they do hit us or whatever, you should be able to restrain them or just walk away from the relationship. But never is it cool to beat the hell out of a woman.

I believe what she said about Chris blacking out during the beating. She said there was ‘no soul in his eyes’ and that it was not the person she fell in love with. Chris obviously snapped and made a huge mistake, but he will have to suffer the consequences.

I truly think Chris Brown is sorry and regrets what happens, that’s why I’m not the person who will try to put down his career and wish him failure. He messed up big time, he’s suffering some backlash, but that’s OK. He’ll learn a lot from this experience, and I’m sure going through this has made both Chris and Rihanna grow up a lot in these past nine months.

I wish them both the best.

Parts 2 through 5 of Rihanna’s exclusive interview are after the jump.

I just know you’ve been dying to see Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom’s highly-publicized wedding (please note extreme sarcasm). Their wedding special is set to air on E! this Sunday, November 8, at 7 p.m. central. Here’s a little clip from the wedding — I’m sooo excited!! (again, sarcasm)

By the way, the new season of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” premieres December 13 on E! — now I’m actually a little excited about that. Yes, I like that show. Don’t judge me. =)

Lady Gaga opens up on 106 & Park

November 4, 2009 | Category:TV | Author: Josh Cox

Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga with Rocsi and Terrence

Lady Gaga hit up BET’s 106 & Park today to promote her upcoming project The Fame Monster, which hits stores and online November 23.

No, you are not hallucinating. Lady Gaga was on BET. Hell, even she was surprised to be on there. “106 & Park” is doing a good job of opening up to diversity, and I love it!

She sat down with Rocsi and Terrence and opened up about everything from not fitting in at all in school, to how her dad’s recent heart surgery had an astounding effect on her.

She gets a lot of shade thrown at her about her “outrageous” costumes and fashion, but Lady Gaga is an amazing talent and a great, humble person. Watch the interview below:

Gaga was also on MTV’s Alexa Chung show. Check that out after the jump.

Did you know Tisha Campbell-Martin could sing?

October 28, 2009 | Category:TV | Author: Josh Cox

On an episode of “Rita Rocks” on Lifetime, Tisha Campbell-Martin sang the chorus of Beyonce’s “If I Were A Boy.” I knew she sang on a couple episodes of “Martin” but I didn’t she had it like THAT! She better get it!!!

But the other young lady, Nicole Sullivan, not so much. But at least you’re trying =).

By the way, if you don’t know who Gina from “Martin” is, slap yourself real quick.

adam lambert

American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert has released the artwork for his debut album For Your Entertainment, hitting the stores on November 23.

So I’m just wondering, is this an album cover, or an advertisement for a new season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” on VH1?

Meanwhile, Adam’s album features production and songwriting from the likes of Lady Gaga, P!nk and RedOne.
